Tournament Traveling Teams (Spring/Summer)

Teams compete in the Tri County League with games on week nights and 4-5 weekend tournaments. Game schedules are published by Tri County in late April.  Practice nights may vary.  A number of past teams have qualified for, played in, and won State and National Tournaments.

Season

The season begins in early April with practices and goes until late July.

We will have teams at the 8U / 10U / 12U / 14U  age levels. Tryouts for teams will be conducted and are based on skills in hitting, fielding, base running and pitching.  (Note: there are no tryouts for 8U or League Only).  Players not selected will have the opportunity to play on an In-House Softball slow pitch team.

Due to the significant time commitment required, we expect players to prioritize Traveling Fastpitch over other sports during the Fastpitch season.

Additional Travel Team Fees (varies by team):

If the Spring weather does not cooperate - many travel teams decide to book indoor gym space to hold practices prior to being outside in May.  Gym time is paid for by each team.

Most teams collect money for a team fund to cover miscellaneous team expenses.  This fund can range from $20-$100/player depending on the age and level of the team. Miscellaneous team expenses should be discussed at the first team meeting and may include things like a team banner, indoor gym time, hair ribbons, pins for trading at Nationals, gift bag exchanges (required if team attends Nationals), etc...

Some teams collect their fees for Nationals up front while some choose to wait until they earn a berth. Most parents prefer a team fund versus a pay-as-you-go method. This decision will vary by team.

If you have any questions, please ask a board member.

There is more information regarding additional fees on the 'End of the Season Tourneys' page on our Tournaments web page or at the link below:

10U League Only (Spring/Summer)

League Only is offered at the 10U level.

This is a great league for those looking for more than In House Softball but don't want to give up all their summer weekends.

League Only players do not attend tryouts.

These teams play one game per week starting early May and then two games a week starting in June. They do not participate in weekend tournaments like the other Travel teams.

They do participate in one state qualifier tournament the last weekend in June.  In addition, some teams qualify for and play in the State tournament the second week in July.

This is still a traveling program so players will have to travel outside of District 196 for games.  Travel distances will depend on where other teams are based.  In the past this team has traveled to Farmington, Mendota Heights, IGH, Eastview, Rosemount, White Bear Lake and Ellsworth, WI.  Travel will vary year to year depending on registered teams and game schedules.

The season begins with practices in mid-April and the season ends in late June unless they qualify for the State tourney which extends the season by two weeks.

FALL BALL INFORMATION

Traveling Fall Ball (Aug-Sept)

Eagan Fall Ball Philosophy:

Fall traveling softball is a short season that runs from early-mid August and finishes the end of September.  As with our summer program there is a competitive element to this season however, fall ball has a primary focus on player development, expansion of position exposure, and working on skill positions for those interested in playing.  In addition, the focus is on teamwork, cooperation, and respecting everybody involved.  We realize that each player has a unique skill set and thus needs as a player.  The program works to ensure that each players potential is maximized as much as possible.  Each player will be treated as a valuable asset to the team, respected, and treated fairly.

2017 Fall Age Groups:

14U - Girls Born in 2003 and 2004

12U - Girls Born in 2005 and 2006

10U - Girls Born in 2007, 2008 & 2009
         - Girls must be 8 yrs old to play 10U

 8U - Girls Born in 2009-2011
        -

Registration

Registration opens in early July.  This is a great time for new players to get started in the EFP program with our shortened 6-7 week season.

Season

The Fall season begins early-mid August with practices and ends late September with Fall Qualifiers and the Fall State Tournament.  All teams play in these two tournaments.

Teams play double header games each Sunday against different opponents.  Game times are at either 12 pm & 1:30 pm or at 3 pm & 4:30 pm.  Qualifier games and State Tournament games are played on Saturdays for 8U, 10U, and 12U age levels.

Please see our Fall Ball page for more detailed information.

This is still a traveling program so players will travel outside of District 196 for games. Travel distances depend on where other teams are based.

Registration Fee Summary

The summary of fees for Eagan Fastpitch Softball programs is listed below.  Please keep in mind that girls can play Traveling Fastpitch as early as age 7.  They do not have to play In House before Traveling Fastpitch.

Traveling Fastpitch provides a more competitive environment without losing the fun and developmental aspects of the game.

Registration fees are subsided by the income we receive by hosting two Eagan tournaments in June and July.  These tournaments keep our fees reasonable and ensures that we can continue to offer a quality softball development experience for all participants.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

ALL parents from the MN Stars, 8U Travel, League Only and all Tournament Travel teams are required to volunteer about 9 hrs (2 Dib shifts per player) at either the Eagan Down 'N Dirty Tournament in June or the Northern National Tournament that we host in July.  This is our only form of fundraising for the program.

The revenue from these tournaments helps keep our program costs down. These funds help pay for items such as; fields, equipment, admin fees, player insurance, tournament entry & gate fees and dome time that all Eagan Fastpitch players can utilize in the winter months.  A volunteer deposit of $250 is collected at tryouts. The check will only be cashed if your volunteer hours are not fulfilled by the end of the season.  You can choose to forfeit this deposit in lieu of working your volunteer hours.

This applies to all traveling members of our Spring/Summer Leagues.
